The Pontoon

One of my good friends had a wedding on Sunday, and they held their wedding reception at The Pontoon. This floating 'glass ballroom' sails around Sydney harbour for the good part of 4hrs, and we were treated to a 3 course meal.

Sansankudo no sakazuki - This little drum looking thing holds sake, japanese rice wine. The bride and groom break the drum open with the tools provided, and signify that they will never be parted. It literally means, 'The way of three, three, nine' (numbers that are indivisible evenly). We share in a shot with our pal, and shout, 'Kampai!'.

The bridal table. That little sake drum is no way going to be enough, so here is the reserve 'water' :)

An empty plate of butter. Again on my soft food diet, I started to attack the bread rolls, and subsequently, the butter.

Our replacement butter. The replacement came straight out of the freezer, so was useless to us straight away. We got ingenious, and put the plate over the candles you see in the background. Our entrees suddenly came out, and we got a bit distracted - hence, the pool of melted butter you see before you :D

I wish I knew the name of this. It's... umm... thinly sliced salmon. Nice :)

The main. Chicken... something. :)

Cake. Oh my god, i'm so bad. :)

Tea. The little chocolate thing was nice.

Seriously though. Not much to talk about. The food quantity was sufficient, compared to your typical 10-course asian banquet where the last 4 courses are usually wasted because you're totally stuffed.
The boat went around a set circuit, many times over that night. Although the view was the same all the time, the boat spent a bit of time around the Botanic Gardens, and it was still excellent views and you could see both the opera house and the harbour bridge.

I think that salmon dish is "Carpaggio di salmone" - I just had it for dinner earlier in Haberfield at Dolcissimo. It's delicious.
