The journey here

Hi, and welcome to the inaugural "Eat desserts first" blog :) Before I start posting photos like there's no tommorrow, let's start by finding out, how we came about.

London. Having been spoilt silly by mum for great food, London forced upon me the need to cook. Along the cooking journey, I realised I needed to appreciate food more in order to cook better. Coming back also made me realise that it was such good fun discovering places to eat. Having limited my choices of places to eat pre-London, I am now determined to find more of what's there to love about the Sydney culinary scene.

A friend pointed me to another friend, Bec's blog, and Bec pointed me in the direction of Grab Your Fork which is an excellent site, and which also inspired me to log my journey.

I'm not too fussy about my food. I'm not a food critic. I probably wouldn't be able to tell you which Pho tastes the best, or whether one salmon sashimi is better than another.

The title. There's a quote by 'Ernestine Ulmer' - "Life is uncertain. Eat desserts first". I like the uncertain life thing. It keeps us on our toes, but also, reminds us that we shouldn't fear the future. I was browsing through some cookbooks at Borders one day, and read something about how desserts were the most important part of any meal and it leaves the eater with their last impression of the meal. Eating it first? Well, eat to their own, but I'll eat mine last. Contradictory, yes. But who cares :)

Anyway, hope you enjoy the entries to follow. Let's see where this world takes us.
